  1. Right-click a statement in the LinkFerret Capture Filters dialog box, and then click Create value-based test on the shortcut menu. The Filter Value Test dialog box opens.

  2. In the Offset box, type or use the arrow buttons to select the location in the frame at which you want to start filtering. The first byte of the frame, the high order byte of the destination MAC address, is numbered 0. The offset is a decimal value.

  3. Under Modifier, select what you want to do to the field in the frame. After you select a modifier, the label AND mask changes to reflect your choice. If the modifier is Shift left, the AND mask title is changed to SHIFT count. Check the dialog box to determine whether the value of the modifier is decimal or hexadecimal. The modifier may not be greater than 8 bytes.

  4. In the Test value box, enter the length of the tested field. If there are fewer digits in the Test value than in the Modifier, the Modifier value is truncated. If there are more digits in the Test value than in the Modifier, the Modifier value is changed, based on the modifier you selected. The Test value is a hexadecimal number and must be no larger than 8 bytes.

  5. Click Okay.
